Identity Integration for Mobile Apps: LDAP & Social Login

Posted: August 20th, 2015Author:

Most apps require a user to register and log in with credentials. Most often, the app requires that the user create a user/password that is specific to the app. This is a cumbersome process that requires the user to remember yet one more password. It’s also not very secure.

A much better approach is to enable the user to simply log in with existing credentials from another service that is trusted, like an LDAP directory in an enterprise or a social identity provider such as Facebook.

3 Tips for Increasing Mobile Conversions

Posted: July 2nd, 2015Author:

Mobile in-app conversionWhat’s a mobile conversion?

Simply put, a mobile conversion is an instance of a user taking a desired action within your mobile app. This could be completing a sale for example, or even just filling out and submitting a form. They differ from download conversions in that they are accomplished in-app, after the initial download of the app has already occurred.

Not everyone needs to worry about mobile conversions in their applications, but if you’re building an app where conversions are key, few things are more important than increasing that rate.

Mobile traffic now accounts for over 16% of all web traffic, and in general, businesses have done well in acquiring users for their apps: by 2016, there will be 2 billion smartphones in use worldwide, with an average of 27 apps per phone.

Our Head of Developer Relations, Max Katz, recently posted an article in App Development Marketplace describing seven pain points in mobile app development driven by an escalating demand for mobile apps:

Mobile apps are on a trajectory the likes of which have yet to be charted. Digi-Capital forecasts that by 2017, the mobile app market will reach $70 billion of global revenue, with non-game apps to double revenue share from 26% to 51%. Appery.io – Your Ticket to the World of Mobile Development

Want to develop mobile apps, but don’t know how?

With the proliferation of mobile devices and increased demand for mobile apps in the enterprise, many developers have switched their interests to mobile development. Even those who are not familiar with the craft of mobile development have considered or tried to create a mobile app at some point. But to be perfectly honest, mobile development is challenging. If it was easy, everyone would be building apps and experienced developers wouldn’t enjoy such high demand. In reality, you need to have pretty strong background using technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to build even the simplest mobile app. This is not even considering the various frameworks you would need to learn, on top of everything else.

If you are not a traditional developer but want to a build a mobile app, you have to follow a challenging routine of learning endless set of information, libraries, frameworks and other tools. Of course, such an approach gives your more low-level control over your code, but the chance that you will lose interest before you build something is rather high.
