Appery.io in 2013

2013 was a stellar year for the Appery.io platform!

The biggest event happened in April when we launched the Appery.io platform a (pronounced “Appery dot io”), as we transitioned from the Tiggzi app UI builder to a completely cloud-based mobile app platform for creating enterprise HTML5 and native mobile apps. The Appery.io platform provides both an app UI builder and integrated backend services (MBaaS)  including a cloud database, push notifications, and a server code facility.

Test Your Mobile Apps Faster With Appery.io Tester for iOS (and Android)

One of the best ways to test your mobile app is on the device. This is a must if your app uses native (PhoneGap) API such as the Camera or the Barcode scanner. Installing the app on the device after every small update is very time consuming. That’s exactly why we built the Appery.io Tester app. It’s a very simple app that allows you to launch your native app and test any native APIs without needing to install it each time. We had the Android version for some time now and now we have also launched the iOS version.

Install the app on your device:

Install the iOS version.
Install the Android version

Once the app is installed, sign in with the same credentials as you use for https://appery.io and you will see a list of all your apps. Simply select the app you want to launch and start testing! This allows you quicly to test any native APIs used in the app. If you make any changes to the app (in Appery.io builder), simply relaunch the app to get the latest version. It’s that simple.

Complete the New Developer Economics Survey for a Chance at Great Devices (and great data)

We’re partnering with VisionMobile for their new Developer Economics survey to help them extend their reach and make sure more developers have a chance to make their voice heard. The survey reaches across thousands of app developers and provides the data for VisionMobile’s well-known reports on the state of the developer nation.

The new Developer Economics survey examines some of the hottest issues of mobile development, such as top mobile platforms, most widely used revenue models, and web vs. native development.

The report will be available for free to the entire mobile community January.

If you’re an app developer, take the 10-minute survey for a chance at some  great prizes.  Prizes include an iPhone, a Galaxy S4, two Nokia Lumia 925 handsets, a $500 USD in-app advertising coupon, and some cool gadgets.

Mobile is Causing a Shift in the Enterprise

CIO Magazine recently wrote a thought-provoking article about the power shift in the enterprise between IT and the Lines of Business (LOB) when it comes to mobile and I’d like to provide our perspective. The editor used the news of our partnership with Salesforce.com (see page 2 of article) to show evidence that mobile development, traditionally an IT function, is moving to the LOBs.  As you may have heard, Salesforce.com launched the “Mobile Pack for Appery.io” and positioned it as a way to reach out to a much broader base of developers, including business users, to innovate on the on the Salesforce Platform.  We’re quite excited about this partnership and believe there is a very large opportunity to enable developers in the LOBs to innovate.
